30 Years' Ministry
May 06, 2010
On May 6, 1980 – 30 years ago today – I arrived in Ottawa with my beautiful, young, wife, Nancy, and our two little girls, aged 1 and 3. Today is the 30th anniversary, to the day, of when I arrived here. Arriving, I had no idea of what was ahead, but I was determined to "Forget what was behind and press forward to whatever it was that was ahead" (Philippians 3:13).
What I did not know then, was that what was ahead of me was going to be 30 years of battle. However, I should have known from the Scriptures what was ahead of me. What did I think? Satan was just going to let me build a church unhindered? Of course not! I came here to preach the Word of God, and the attack has always been on the preaching; the very thing I came to do; the very thing I was called to do; the very thing both God and man called me to do.
I have never stopped preaching His Word. The attacks have never ceased. But God has sustained us and exalted His name in this ministry, and in the building of His Church.
