In the parable of the sower, Jesus is telling us something very important. He is not just talking about wheat or barley, but of something far more important. When Jesus is asked why He speaks in parables, He says, "This is why I speak in parables: 'Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.' In these parables is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.'" Here, Jesus is saying that there is an extraordinary reality in Kingdom work...

What did I know as a pastor 30 years ago? Well, I'll tell you what I didn't know. What I didn't know 30 years ago, was that what was ahead of me was going to be 30 years of battle. However, I should have known from the Scriptures that this is what was ahead of me. I came here for one purpose...

On May 6, 1980 – 30 years ago today – I arrived in Ottawa with my beautiful, young, wife, Nancy, and our two little girls, aged 1 and 3. Today is the 30th anniversary, to the day, of when I arrived here. Arriving, I had no idea of what was ahead...
